From Classroom to One-on-One: A Purpose-Driven Path
For years, I stood in front of classrooms full of bright, capable students. I loved teaching and something always pulled me toward the ones who struggled quietly, who needed more than the curriculum could give. I kept asking myself: How can I truly meet the needs of every learner?

That question became my mission.
But this mission is also personal.
My own journey with learning challenges began in elementary school. Despite my effort, I often felt “not smart” compared to classmates — and even my own siblings. I remember wondering why I was not “getting it” when others seemed to understand so easily. These early struggles left me feeling frustrated, misunderstood, and constantly compared.
It was not until much later, through my own neuropsychological evaluation, that I gained clarity about how I learn and why certain things had always been more difficult. That experience reshaped my self-understanding — and deepened my connection to the students I have always been drawn to help.
Today, as a Certified Academic Language Therapist and former Fairfax County teacher with over two decades of experience, I channel both my professional training and personal insight into every session. I have always believed that every student can succeed when instruction meets their individual needs — not the other way around.
Training, Credentials & Continued Learning
To deepen my impact, I completed rigorous training through the Atlantic Seaboard Dyslexia Education Center (ASDEC), earning certification as an Academic Language Therapist. I also hold:
A Bachelor’s degree in Education from The College of William & Mary
A Master’s in Initiatives in Educational Transformation from George Mason University
A Virginia K–8 teaching license
Memberships with the International Dyslexia Association (IDA), and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM)
Board Member of the Academic Language Therapy Association (ALTA) - Virginia Chapter
And because I believe we are never done learning, I regularly continue my education in areas that help me support students more effectively.

The Spark That Created
Learn Well
After staying home with my young children, I found myself at a crossroads: return to the classroom or pursue a more individualized path — working one-on-one with students who could benefit from personalized instruction. The decision became clear.
In 2020, I launched my practice under the name Dyslexia Alliance — a name born from my belief in the power of collaboration. Real progress happens when the student, the parent, and the therapist come together. That team approach has the power to rewire how students engage with reading and writing at a foundational, neural level.
That alliance was my spark — and that passion remains at the heart of everything I do.
I built this practice to offer something unique: one-on-one academic therapy that is as structured as it is supportive, and as grounded in research as it is personalized.’

A New Name for a Wider Impact: Learn Well
Over time, I began to work with students who struggled in areas beyond language acquisition. I expanded my areas of support for students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, and executive functioning challenges to include dyscalculia, often named “a specific learning disorder in mathematics".
What remained constant was the individualized, structured, and supportive approach — but it became clear that the name Dyslexia Alliance no longer reflected the full scope of my work.
Families needed a space that welcomed all kinds of learners. And so, in 2025, Learn Well was born — a name that reflects the broader impact and honors the belief that every student deserves to learn in the way that works best for them.
At Learn Well, I continue to provide personalized academic therapy rooted in research-backed methods and delivered with care. This is a place where students are seen, supported, and empowered to build the skills and confidence they need — not just for school, but for life.
Learning That’s Personal. Growth That Lasts.
Why I Do This Work
The greatest joy in my work comes from the light bulb moments — when a student connects with a concept for the first time, or finally feels proud of their progress. Those moments are not just academic milestones. They are turning points in how a child sees themselves.
I know what it feels like to struggle and wonder why learning seems harder than it should be. My own experiences as a student — feeling compared, overlooked, and frustrated — have shaped my deep empathy for the learners I work with today.
That personal connection drives everything I do at Learn Well. Every session is an opportunity to offer the kind of instruction, support, and encouragement I once needed myself.
At Learn Well, we build more than academic skills.

We build belief.

We build momentum.

We build futures.
Foundations Built with Confidence. Futures Built to Thrive.
